5 Day Canoe Tripping Course

Want to go on a northern river trip but new to paddling on rivers or canoe tripping? This 5 day course will introduce you to paddling on rivers in preparation for multi-day river trips. Led by experienced Black Feather guides, this program consists of 3 days of whitewater instruction before a 2 day overnight canoe trip. Skills covered include: practicing paddling manoeuvres on whitewater, river reading, paddling with a loaded canoe, and an introduction to river rescue. This course is for beginner or novice paddlers (flatwater paddling experience recommended); more experienced paddlers should consider the Weekend Tripping Clinic. The course is run by Black Feather guides in co-operation with Madawaska  Kanu Centre, at MKC. Skill Level 1.

• 17’ Prospector expedition canoes
• paddles, PFD, helmets (you may bring your own)

Local Transportation
• transportation of guides, group gear, canoes etc to and from the course
• road transport from MKC to any put in or take outs required during the course

• Plan 1A: Lodge room accommodation (bedding included) from Sunday - Thursday
• Plan 1B: Dorm room accommodation (bedding not included) from Sunday - Thursday
