SEA
KAYAK CLINIC -- On our overnight
sea kayaking clinic you’ll learn paddling techniques,
safety procedures and kayak camping skills. We’ll all
meet in Killbear Provincial Park on Saturday morning. At a
sheltered beach we’ll learn about kayaks and try out
basic paddling strokes. We’ll practice self rescues,
group rescues and other safety skills. After lunch the guides
will show how to waterproof all your stuff and how to load
the kayak. Then we’re off into the 30,000 Islands of
Georgian Bay on an overnight kayak trip. As we go there will
be new things to try and lots to practice. We’ll camp
on a deserted out-island. Here you’ll learn how to set
up a good camp - so you’re comfortable, warm and dry
and of course really well fed. At the end of the day we’ll
sit by the fire and watch the fabulous Georgian Bay sunset.
On Sunday we explore the sheltered channels and bays. There’s
time to swim, stop for lunch on the rocky shore and as our
confidence grows perhaps try paddling in some bigger waves.
Eventually we’ll have to return to Killbear, ready to
try a trip on your own or one of Black Feather’s longer
kayak expeditions. Complete beginners and developing paddlers
will enjoy the learning, light hearted fun and new friends
on this trip. Kayaks, gear, instruction, guides and dinner
on Saturday night are included.
