SPECIAL
EXPEDITIONS -- For 2008/09 we
are offering three exciting special sea kayak expeditions
in Baja, Mexico.
New
for 2008 is the Baja Coastal trip -
a fully-catered 9 day kayaking holiday exploring the
coast north of La Paz in the Sea of Cortez.
The
Loreto to La Paz trip is an 11 day
self-contained expedition that travels along the coast
from Loreto south towards La Paz.
The
successful Pacific Lagoon trip, a 6
day adventure on the Pacific side
of Baja, is now offered twice so more people can see
the 'other side' of Baja.
BAJA
COASTAL TRIP -- A special 9 day sea kayak holiday
in Baja exploring some of the finest scenery between
Loreto and La Paz. With no maintained road access and
only a few small fishing villages untouched by the trappings
of the modern world it is a perfect place to get away.
This trip is 'Fully-Catered' with full time motorboat
(called a Panga) support. The Panga carries all our
food and expedition gear to the next campsite while
we paddle light kayaks. Coolers aboard the Panga allow
for special food and drink throughout the trip. The
Panga crew and guides take care of all the cooking and
clean up. This is a shorter, less rigorous version of
the Loreto to La Paz trip.
The
package includes 2 nights at a nice hotel in La Paz,
7 days paddling with 6 nights camping on pristine wilderness
beaches and a farewell dinner
at an excellent La Paz restaurant.

BAJA
PACIFIC LAGOON -- 6 days /5 nights exploring
the Pacific lagoon of Magdalena Bay, a narrow channel
protected from the turbulent ocean by Isla Magdalena.
Sand dunes situated on the Isla provide a contrast to
the labyrinth of mangroves along the Baja coastline.
The La Florida estuary offers a view into another vibrant
ecosystem. The bay is also the winter home of Gray whales
who migrate 6000 miles to mate and give birth in these
protected waters. The January trip will likely see the
whales. Paddling the narrow waterways is interspersed
with beach combing the Pacific, jumping off sand dunes
and the usual games and natural history education. The
trip is suited for those who have some previous experience.
It is a 40 mile journey and will average approximately
three hours of paddling a day, including some longer
days. We have added a day this year so there is more
time for exploring and relaxation. This unique expedition
will surely be a wonderful adventure.
This
trip includes 6 days paddling and 5 nights camping with
two night's hotel in La Paz and a farewell dinner at
an excellent La Paz restaurant.

LORETO
to LA PAZ -- This 11 day expedition explores
some of the finest scenery in southern Baja -from Loreto
to La Paz . We camp on soft sand beaches, overlooked
by an enormous and spectacular mountain range, the Sierra
de la Giganta; in many places sheer cliffs hundreds
of feet high plunge directly into the Gulf. This area
has a very low amount of seafaring traffic but an amazing
amount of marine activity. Expect daily dolphin sightings,
perhaps whales and pristine snorkeling areas. We nearly
always indulge in fresh fish and lobster, so feel free
to bring your own fishing line and help catch dinner!
With several rest days and paddling 4 hours on most
days (expect one long day) the trip is great break from
every day life.
This
trip includes 10 days paddling, 9 nights camping with
two night's hotel in La Paz and a farewell dinner at
an excellent La Paz restaurant.
