WIND RIVER --
The Wind River is another of northern Yukon’s great mountain style rivers.
Starting at McCluskey Lake, there is a short portage to the Wind. The upper section
has no mighty rapids, but there is definitely some fun manoeuvering. Chutes,
sharp bends and converging currents allow for some easy to intermediate whitewater.
The river is often braided with gravelly shoals. Hiking is good, particularly
in the upper section, where the alpine ridges and peaks are close to the river.
This is an excellent trip for the novice to intermediate whitewater paddler.
