RIVER
The scenic Pigeon
River, one of Canada's best whitewater rivers flows
approx. 160 km from Family Lake to Lake Winnipeg.
Remote and rugged, the Pigeon has an interesting
temperament - extremely picturesque but with an
underlying ferocity.
The
rapids range from class 2-4 with many big water
class 3 sets - often culminating in a rollercoaster
ride on large standing waves. A 40 km canyon contains
over 30 rapids that have been compared to Colorado's
best whitewater rivers. Bear, moose and an abundance
of bald and golden eagles make the river valley
their home. An excellent trip for intermediate
and advanced paddlers only.
