KANAIRIKTOK -- Tumbling
waterfalls, seething rapids, huge canyons, gently flowing water,
sand beaches and seemingly endless wilderness - a journey down Labrador’s
Kanairitktok River provides the privileged canoeist with all of these features.
The Kanairitktok valley is home to a vast number of black bear, timber wolves,
moose, woodland caribou and wolverines. At 355 km in length, it is the longest
river in Labrador, starting at the Labrador-Quebec border and emptying into the
Atlantic Ocean near Hopedale. This seldom traveled river offers the intermediate
to advanced paddler a chance to explore the wilds of Labrador.
